Fake It Until You Make It!

Fake it until you make it is all about laughing. Our body does not know the difference between a genuine laugh or a forced laugh. I have recorded my fake laugh to remind me to laugh every day.

Now and again, one will see something that will produce a genuine laugh it will elevate the mood, bring tears to the eyes, abdominal aches, relief from stress and a happy feeling for yourself and those around you.

Ellen DeGeneres brought out a short video and, explained what hormones do for your brain. The video is called “Laughter is good for your brain” (check out the video below).

Usually, I’m not too fond of slapstick comedy but, found one called “Dustins Dojo slapstick Karate” shown on Americas Got Talent in 2019. I found this act funny (see video below).

It all depends on what situation triggers your humour and whether it creates a burst of laughter from you.

Recently I went with a neighbour to pick up some gardening products such as potting mix and cow manure. One cow manure bag had a hole in it, and a staff member who loaded these bags into the back of my car was not gentle in placing these bags. The impact caused this bag to release a powerful unpleasant smell – my immediate response was ” Pooh! This karzee warzee stinkzee poozee woozees!” I said this without giving it too much thought, and my neighbour exploded into hysterical laughter. I, on the other hand, did not think this was funny.

I am not fond of going to parties, and on this one occasion I decided to go, when I arrived, I noticed small groups of people around the room and thought to myself which group to join.

The gathering did not sound as if they were having any fun; however, sometime later, I noticed and so did the groups of people come over to see a woman on the floor.

We did not have long to wait before we heard the host of the party approached this woman. He asked her what she was doing on the floor. Her reply was she was looking for something, like what he said? She motioned with her hands like squeezing a ball as she could not think of the name of the gadget she wanted. His next question was, what do you want to do with it?

Her answer was I want to make some wind, and then she pointed towards the fire. The host said, oh you mean the bellows!

We all laughed at her remark, and suddenly everyone relaxed and had a wonderful time.

Couldn’t agree more! Laughter really does elevate the mood – even if it’s a bit forced, the end result is the same. less cortisol, and more feel good hormones

Laughter is the best medicine, it helps one to breathe in more oxygen and thus helps relive stress and anxiety.
